Video: Pong & Aom's Lakorns Make Top 3 Lakorns in China

Love this video clip. It's created by the Thai Consulate in China about the popularity of Thai dramas there. As you can see from the clip, a lot of Pong and Aom's lakorns have been shown in China. But what we especially love is that the top 3 lakorns (by audience ratings) are lakorns of Pong and Aom.

Aom's Luerd Kattiya / The Princess - #2 Most Popular Foreign TV drama in 2008

Pong's Song Kram Nang Fah / Battle of the Angels - #3 Most Popular Foreign TV Drama in 2009

Pong & Aom's Proong Nee Gor Ruk Ter / Tomorrow, I'll Still Love You - #2 Most Popular Foreign TV Drama in 2010

That's pretty impressive when you think about it because Pong and Aom's lakorns are up against so many other international dramas (Korean, American, Japanese.....) that get shown in China every year. Plus, we also love it that at the end of the clip, our favorite actor Pong was given a mini spotlight.

Special thanks to Mandy for this video clip.

One of Pong's Interviews in Shanghai

When Pong was in Shanghai, he did many interviews for many magazines. Here's one of his interviews. It was posted and translated by Flora Zou at pongnawat.net (thanks Mandy for the link).

Translations by Flora Zou / posted at pongnawat.net

问:
Pong
Q:
Pong looks really interesting, what does that mean in Thai Language?
A:
This is nickname given by my parents. I have a sister whose name is “Pang”, which means good skin; While my name means stable and protective. My real first name is Nawat.
Q:
You start your career as a model, how do you become an actor?

A:
In the beginning, I am a magazine model. The boss is directing dramas at that time. One day he asks me whether I am interested in acting. Then I go to learn acting and only want to try initially. However after several dramas, I find a lot of people like my performance. Therefore it enhances my confidence about acting, I start as an actor.
Q:
Have you ever become a monk? Can you talk a little bit about your life as a monk?
A:
Thailand is a Buddhist Country and nearly every man will become a monk for at least once in his life. During days as a monk, we have to not only shave hair, but also eye brown. We have to chanting, but do not need knock wooden fish. We only have two meals per day and cannot have sex with woman. The time for being a monk depends on, like me, I am only half a month as a monk. For some men, they probably are only several days as a monk. However it is a growing process for a man.

Q:
Thai Drama is very popular in China now, Do you have any special treatment by Chinese fans?

A:
I never imagine how popular I am when I firstly come to China. They chase me and give me presents… I even hear that some fans fly to Thailand to meet my Thai fans.

Q:
You ever act as a play boy, what do you look like in real life?

A:
Of course I am not a play boy in real life. I am a little bit shy, but I like to make friends. I like to go to pub with friends, but I cannot drink too much. I also like dog, one is died and the other one has with me for 7 years.
Q:
You say that you do not have a girl friend,
so what kind of girl you want?
A:
I like woman with good, white skin, and charming as well. She has to be out going, and really good at smiling…

Q:
Do you watch Chinese Drama? Which actor or director do you like?

A:
I like <The Return o
f The Pearl Princess>. Some people say I look like Leon lam, how do you think? Haha…. I like gunfight film by John Woo Yu-Sen and I am really eager to perform in war film. I also like films by Yimou Zhang, because he is a famous director…

Q:

A:
I come to Shanghai TV Festival with purpose of seeking cooperation opportunity. I hear that <Kha Kong Khon> has aired in China. It is still a love story, but it is different from the one I act before. This time I am more concentrate on one person and more gentle, not a play boy any more.

Q:
Have you been ever gone any interesting place in China?

A:
I like going to Houhai (Heihei, it is famous with its pub….) in Beijing
. Once I go there in winter and we go skating on the ice. As you know, it is impossible to skating in Thailand. Another time it is summer and we boat on the lake… This is my second time to Shanghai. Last time I went to Tianzifang on Thaikang Road. I like building there. I remember there is a shop with good coffee. Xiaolongbao (Xiaolongbao is a type of steamed bun or baozi from eastern China, especially Shanghai and Wuxi. It is traditionally steamed in small bamboo baskets, hence the name (xiaolong is literally small steaming basket). Xiaolongbao are often referred to as soup dumplings or simply dumplings in English, but are not regarded as "dumplings" in China.) tastes really yummy, Peking duck is too greasy.

Filming on Pidsawat Postponed

Well, it looks like we won't get to see Pong and Bee's lakorn Pidsawat anytime soon. Back in April, Bee stated in a video message to her fans that they would begin shooting in June. A few days ago, one of Pong's fans tweeted about when they will shoot the lakorn and Pong responded by saying that the project will be postponed to next year. Hopefully, Pong will be doing other lakorns in the meantime since we want to see more of him.
